If you are allergic to Pork then you suffer from allergies Type 1 or contact allergy. The immune system overreacts to the proteins found in the pork. At the present time there is no known cure for allergies that involve food. Scientists do not clearly understand why the immune system of people allergic to pork considers some food proteins as harmful by the body.

The immune system can mount a variety of defenses mechanisms against proteins that is considers as harmful or foreign. Symptoms can be very mild to life-threatening depending on the severity of your pork allergies. They usually occur within a few minutes to a few hours after eating pork.

Allergies to pork or any other meat product is very rare. Many times the allergic reaction to pork can be caused not by the pork itself but by some other chemical used when processing the port for the consumer market. Such chemicals as Papain that is used as a meat tenderizer or Casein that is used as a stabilizer can cause allergic reactions that may be confused as an allergy to pork. Chemical contaminates and preservatives are the most common of food allergies.

Another caused of the apparent allergy to meat products was the uses of antibiotics at the farms. A good example was the 2001 recall of pork products by Mitchell’s Gourmet Foods Inc because the hogs were injected with Penicillin prior to the hogs being sent to the processing center.

If you are suffering from food allergy symptoms that are not life treating then some common products are available to help with the symptoms such as Quercitin, Bromellain , Vitamin A, Eucalyptus, Iron, and L-Carnitine.

Quercitin is a well known flavonoid. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants and can reduce inflammation, boost the immune system, and strengthen blood vessels, and improve circulation. Quercitin is also known for its ability to block the release of histamines, thus reducing or preventing allergy symptoms. Take 500 mg twice daily.

Bromellain will enhance the absorption of Quercetin. Take 100 mg twice daily.

Vitamin A is an important immune system stimulant. DR. Nauss reported a reduced T-cell immune response in patients with a Vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A deficiency may increase the risk of cancers of the lung, larynx, bladder, esophagus, stomach, colon, rectum and prostate. Vitamin A is stored in the liver and fat cells of the human body and can reach toxic levels. DO NOT take more than the recommended dosage of Vitamin A.

Use Eucalyptus or olbas oil in boiling water and inhale the steam that is being generated. This treatment is also very good for any type of stuffy nose due to a cold, flu or allergy problems. Both readily diffuse into the air and can provide benefits to nasal and bronchial areas.

Iron is an essential component of hemoglobin, the oxygen carrying substance in red blood cells. Iron is vital for the production of blood. It enhances the immune system. Iron also aids in growth and repair of both bone and tissue by helping the body produce collagen.

L-Carnitine is essential for the body’s ability to turn food into energy. L-Carnation increases energy at the cell level by increased fat burning, increases the body’s ability to remove toxic disease-causing compounds and helps cells live longer.

If you are Allergic To Pork then find a good health care professional prior to starting any type of home treatment.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

The Shanghai government will increase its pork reserves and improve needy families’ social-welfare benefits later this year. The initiative is to ensure a stable pork market supply and social equality despite rising food prices, Mayor Han Zheng said yesterday. By the end of next month, the city plans to increase the pork reserve by 6,500 tons via purchasing pigs and pork from other parts of the country, mainly from Henan Province. Vehicles sending pigs and pork into Shanghai will be exempted from road tolls when entering the city, Han said.

Considering the huge food price rises this year, the city is raising its monthly grant to urban residents who live under the designated poverty line from 320 yuan (US$42) to 350 yuan per head. Minimum wages for local employees are also scheduled to rise from 750 yuan to 840 yuan per month. Part-time workers should receive an hourly payment of at least 7.5 yuan, compared with the current 6.5 yuan. Retired workers in the city will also enjoy an average pension rise of 150 yuan per month each – a larger amount than the national level.

Han’s announcement came as it was reported yesterday that the average pork price in China fell for the first time in two months. “The city government is trying its best to ensure a stable and safe food market supply with a relatively steady price for local low-income families,” Han said, reporting the government’s work to the Shanghai People’s Congress. Owing to rising feed cost and market demand-supply relations, prices of many foods, such as pork and vegetables, have gone up sharply this year throughout the country.

Pork prices are about 75 percent higher than a year earlier, which concerned not only ordinary residents but also high-level government officials. Premier Wen Jiabao said earlier this month that city mayors should be directly responsible for controlling and stabilizing pork prices. Han also announced yesterday that the city will build more low-rent houses to expand the beneficiary numbers from 24,800 families to 30,000 by the end of this year. Local families with a living area of less than four square meters per head, people who suffer from serious diseases or those who lose their ability to work are now entitled to apply for a government-subsidized low-rent house. Previously, preferential housing was only open to senior citizens who have no children, disabled people, model workers and families of martyrs.

The Ministry of Commerce said in Beijing yesterday that, thanks to the central government’s and producers’ efforts to increase supply, the average pork price fell nationally for the first time in two months last week. The price of pork dipped 1.2 percent from the previous week.

The pulled pork sandwiches are perfect as winter meals that are warm and spicy. Usually this category consists of buns instead of the bread that normally constitute the sandwich. Many people due to its flavor and the different textures of its preparation love the pulled pork. These sandwiches have a contrast between the crispy exterior and the tender melting portion inside. Mostly meat from the pigs shoulder is used which has good amount of fat that renders out during the long cooking.

A pulled pork sandwich should be messy, that makes it perfectly summer by the pool food at home. The preparation time is just 5 minutes where as the seasoning takes about one hour. With the below recipe 6 to 8 serves can be done.

The cooking time takes about 5 ½ hour. Following are the ingredients required for the pulled pork sandwiches.
* 1/4 cup dark brown sugar that is lightly packed
* 2 tbsp kosher or coarse salt
* 2 tbsp paprika
* 1 tbsp ground black pepper
* 1/2 tbsp ground coriander and dry mustard that is found in spice section
* 1/2 tsp onion powder
* 1 boneless pork butt which weighs about 3 pounds
* 1 1/2 cups apple juice
* 1/2 cup water
* 1 package plain soft white rolls or other bread
One can also consider bone-in or bone-less pork butts. Both of have them have their equal benefits. Cooking the bone-in pork will contribute some flavor, which also helps in cooking time slightly. Else, the bone can also be removed to get the flavor deep inside the meat.

Mix brown sugar and dry spices together in a small bowl. Rub this to all over the pork, cover it and place it in the refrigerator for an hour. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees and lay pork on the rack, which is fitted inside the roasting pan. Pour in water and apple juice and tightly cover the pan with foil, and slow down the roast for 5 hours. After this, remove the foil and cook for another 30 minutes. It should be cooked until the pork becomes brown from outside and meat becomes very tender.

Remove the pork from the oven, transfer to large platter and allow meat to rest for about 10 minutes. While the pork is still warm, shred the pork into very small pieces using fingers or forks. When the pork is ready for serving, cover it and refrigerate for up to 2 days. When it is required to reheat then put it in shallow baking dish and place it in 350-degree oven for 15 minutes.

For making pulled pork sandwiches, it is necessary that the pork be shredded well enough into pieces that are easy to eat. Then the bun should be the typical white buns, which are very cheap. The cole slaw is a portable salad stuff that is served in little polystyrene containers with chicken. The pulled pork sandwiches are topped with chopped cabbage. The other toppings are the mayonnaise, vinegar, and pepper which can change the flavor to some extent.

Many call it BBQ shredded pork because it looks like shredded pork, but technically it is BBQ pulled pork. But, if you want call it shredded pork, nobody will care.

Once it’s cooked, the way it got its name is from using your hands, or a fork, to literally twist and pull the pork meat away from the fat, and to separate it from the bone.

The cut of meat ideal for pulled pork comes from the upper part of the shoulder from the front leg of a hog. It is called the Boston Butt, or pork shoulder.

At your favorite butcher shop, asked them for a bone-in, pork shoulder. The roast should weigh, ideally from four pounds up to eight pounds.

Before you barbecue, rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Trim as much excess fat off of it as you can. If you don’t get all the fat, not to worry, you can always remove more after it is cooked.

To get the most out of your cooking experience you will want to add a quality dry rub to the pork shoulder. Basically, what it does is tenderizes the meat and gives it a tantalizing BBQ taste.

You can go to the grocery store and purchase a pre-packaged dry rub. Most major grocery stores carry something that will work well with pork. Talk to the butcher at the store and get a recommendation.

However, I prefer to make my own dry rub and you can create your own, easily.

Get yourself a fairly good-size plastic marinating pan that has a lid. Don’t use aluminum foil or pans. Place the meat in the container and pour, or shake, a generous amount of dry rub on it. Repeat!

Next, pour a combination of plain yellow mustard and/or honey over the pork. You may have to heat the honey up to get it to spread properly. Use a brush and cover all the sides.

Once again, sprinkle dry rub on the meat, but this time don’t rub it in. Refrigerate overnight with the cover closed tightly on the marinating pan.

Before you barbecue let the pork sit out for one hour

Start the barbecue, whether gas grill, charcoal or conventional oven

Temperature should be set at medium, 325 degrees for the oven

When barbecuing large cuts of meat, other than the oven, you need to use indirect heat. If you don’t, you will burn the outside. And, further the meat will dry out and not be cooked in the center.

For cooking on a gas grill, or the oven, you will need a small single cookie, or cooling rack to set the pork shoulder on, all placed over a shallow pan. Actually, a shallow oven roasting pan will work, too. You don’t want to have to clean up the mess if you don’t do this.

On the gas grill, you only need to light one side of the grill. When up to temperature, place the Boston Butt directly on the unlit side of the grill.

With a charcoal grill, place the lit briquets on one side of the unit. Place the roast directly on the unlit site of the grill, don’t use the cookie rack and pan. Don’t use cheap charcoal. This is a long, long cooking time.

Use proper airflow. Bottom vents open when pre-heating, open top vents when cooking on indirect heat.

Once you have everything setup, you want to keep the lids on the barbies, and oven closed. Don’t turn the pork shoulder while cooking.

You need to mop the pork shoulder to add flavor and moisture to it. The most convenient way is to use a spray bottle partially filled with fruit juice and apple cider vinegar.

A half cup of juice, apple or orange will probably suffice. Add a tablespoon of the vinegar.

Here we go with the cooking and the mopping sequence:

Cook at 325 degrees gas grill, or oven for one hour, 250 for charcoal

Open lid spray (mop) and lightly mist the on top of the roast

Cook for another 2 hours and mop again

Lower temperature to 300 and mop again after 3 hours

Lower temperature to 250 and cook for another 2 hours

Total eight hours

Charcoal grills will take longer, more like ten to 12 hours. You will need to add charcoal along the line.

You won’t be able to do this in the oven, but adding a smoker box to the gas grill will enhance the flavor and get you closer to a real BBQ taste.

Buy a cast iron one, they are the best. Most hardware, home improvement stores have them.

Along with the smoker box, purchase pre-packaged wood chips. They come in all kinds of flavors, but you might want to stick to fruit woods for the pulled pork.

Soak the wood chips for at least thirty minutes before putting them in the smoker box. While you are cooking the pork shoulder, place the box on the lit side of the grill.

With charcoal grill, simple add the pre-soaked wood chips to the coals.

After you have checked the roast for doneness with a meat temperature, take it off the grill and wrap in aluminum foil. Let it sit for a least a half hour to 45 minutes before serving.

Now, comes the shredded pork part of it. Pull apart the crust and remove the bone. Start separating the meat from the fat. You can do this by pulling it apart with a fork or using your fingers. It freezes well.

Place the meat on a cutting board and chop it up with a knife. Serve on Texas Toast or eat it by itself with, or without a dipping sauce. Hope you like this simple shredded pork recipe.
